History

Ascherberg pianos were associated with the London piano manufacturer Chappell & Co. in the late 19th century. Chappell & Co. was founded in 1811 by Samuel Chappell, Johann Chappell, and Francis Latout, who were already partners in a music publishing business. Chappell took over Ascherberg pianos in 1935 but stopped building the pianos because of the Second World War where the Ascherberg piano factory was completely destroyed.

Separated the piano manufacturing and music publishing departments in 1901

Purchased several English piano manufacturing firms in the 1920s

The Kemble Piano Company of London produce Chappell and Ascherberg pianos

Emil Ascherberg ran a piano factory that went bankrupt in 1883

Eugene Ascherberg imported French and German pianos in London

Ascherberg pianos are well made and has a rich tone

Ascherberg pianos were similar to Kaps pianos, which originated from the same town.
